Maxima 10w40 atv oil in new units. I will be suggesting amsoil 0w40 as well for the first oil change after they are good and broken in.

Just a heads up to those running shell rotella they have changed the formula and all thier oil with above an sg rating now contains friction modifiers which can cause wet clutches to slip. This info came from an engineer that works for shell.

With the new machine I use Maxima or Motul Ester base. It don't get any better for a new machine.

Will have to look into the rotella... Just picled up a 9.5 liter jug to do a few oil changes to flush because i suspect the previous owner may have run auto oil (feels like wet clutch is slipping) (new wet clutch)

The jug i bought still says jaso MA on it....

Just changed oil and filter on the 700 yesterday.
Valvoline ATV 10W-40 and Wix filter. Changed to
the Yamaha filter pipe so no issues with the filter
coming loose. Problem free at 120 miles on the machine!

We raced both the Glen Helen 24hr and Vegas to Reno with the M1 0W40. 531 miles, wide open throttle, finished 2nd over all. Tore the engine down and had zero wear on the rod journal to 6 digits. When 0w40 is unavailable, we use Rotella T6. Both synthetic, both completely wet clutch safe.

Ran Amsoil 10w40 metric motorcycle oil at first oil change at 200 miles for 1300 miles. Ran cooler than factory fill as fan runs less, and protects better. Now trying Amsoil's new10w40 Dirt Bike oil as made for better clutch action and reduce gear, bearing and piston wear. http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...-EA?zo=1181889 . Will report back later on hie it works.

My 2010 Supermach was making an awful noise that I had been trying to figure out. I bought this UTV used and used Mobil 1 synthetic oil on my first oil change. Finally after trying several things I decided to change oil to something I knew was wet clutch compatible.

    http://utv-chat.com/showthread.php?9...ighlight=noise

I used quicksilver 5W-40 from Wal-mart (says wet clutch compatible on the label). The noise is almost gone I just hope I didn't damage anything in the process.
